Lots of others more recent films and film scenes were shot in the area, e.g. Burn All My Letters which premiered in 2022. During the boat trip we also go to Halland's Väderö, where lovely, unforgettable scenes  from Ronia, the Robber's daughter were filmed in 1984.

Helsingborg, since the Viking Age inextricably linked to the sea, is quite deservedly known as the Pearl of the Öresund. Helsingborg is dominated by Kärnan, the medieval brick keep which has kept a vigilant watch over Helsingborg, the Öresund and Elsinore since the 14th century, i d the time when Denmark was found on either side of the sound. The city is an irresistible mixture of modern and old times. The Gothic cathedral (St Mary’s) is a stone’s throw from Kim Utzon-designed Dunker Cultural Centre, the City Hall and the Bernadotte Monument. Coffee break optional before or during a visit to Sofiero, a former royal summer residence. The palace with its fairy tale aura is perched on a hill surrounded by flourishing rhododendrons and perennial borders once masterly designed by British-born Crown Princess Margaret. Sofiero is a peaceful haven for locals all year round and a self-evident rhodoholic destination in early summer.

On your 1-hour guided city walk, let yourself be charmed by winding alleys, the Cathedral with its soaring spire, Baroque composer Buxtehude’s humble birthplace and other historic monuments. Marvel at the contrasts between the austere medieval Carmelite Monastery and the ultra-modern Cultural Centre. Linger 1 -2 h at unforgettable Kronborg Castle. The royal banqueting hall may still conjure up images of rustling silks and lute players. Other enticing Kronborg aspects are the Shakespeareana and the palace church, a miraculous survivor of wars and fire.

Discover Hovs Hallar, Hallandsåsen's astonishing encounter with the sea. Seastacks, caves and pebbly beaches are a reminder of the enormous power of nature. Amazing views at the top. Steep skree slopes  on the other side of the cattle fence. Certain place names are said to reflect riska that grazing cattle might run. Winding paths through strangely shaped junipers lead to the beach. Small stone turrets made by visitors of today stand like a silent army just where the path reaches the beach. The sound of the waves pounding against rocks and pebbles follows you, just like in the game of chess between the Knight and Death in Ingmar Bergman's classic film The Seventh Seal made here in the 50s.

During this guided tour, we are going to walk for a while on the old embankment. A completely new chapter in the history of Båstad-Malen began when the railway was inaugurated in 1885. Despite incredibly tough terrain for the railway construction, the vision of the new railway line became a reality. Naturally more visitors, including King Gustav V, could find their way to Båstad, but rail freight also made a difference . The area called Malen area included a quarry, a company within the lime industry and flourishing entrepreneurial ideas. Beneath the peaceful water of Lake Öresjön the remains of the lime quarry are hidden. The tour includes the history of the local railway, sports, entrepreneurship and industries.

Fresco Painter Pär Siegård

In the Scanian churches at Hjärnarp, Förslöv and Grevie you have the chance to admire several frescoes made by Pär Siegård. In Hjärnarp Church there is a series of paintings beginning with Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem and ending with the empty tomb. If you continue to the neighbouring parish of Förslöv there is e.g. a fresco depicting Jesus calming the storm. Finally in Grevie a whole wall is covered with the fresco named “The Sermon on the Mount”. The background is clearly local, showing the bay called Skälderviken, the silhouette of Kullaberg the softly rolling hills of Grevie and the winding stone walls, so characteristic of this area.

The trail between Hovs hallar and Torekov offers spectacular hiking. The guided tour starts at Hovs hallar, high above the sea level with a vista of rugged stacks that have miraculously withstood persistent attacks by the sea and harsh winters for thousands of years. We will continue on winding paths next to the sea across barren shingle beaches or ancient beach meadows. The sea, forever lapping or pounding against the shore, is our constant companion. Soon we will find ourselves at Norrebro hamn, a mini harbor epitomizing peace and harmony. Surrounded by grazing sheep, cattle and horses we will reach Gröthögarna, eight austere Bronze Age mounds, an enigmatic salutation from the past. The whole area is dotted with mini fortresses of a more recent date as they were constructed in the 1940s. Today they are cherished picnic spots offering a much-needed comfortable, flat surface as well as a wonderful view. The silhouette of Hallands Väderö becomes more distinct as we are approaching the outskirts of Torekov and the end of our hike: Torekov’s harbor.
